On the sacred land of Breitenbush, we immerse ourselves in the timelessness of nature’s wisdom. Yoga reveals this wisdom as our very nature. As we awaken our hearts and minds, renew our vitality and radiance, and rest deeply into the innate sacredness of life, we are returned to the vast intelligence and compassion that has held us all along. Join us in deep physical asana, profoundly restorative practices, and compelling conversation for living your yoga, as a very alive process, not a preconceived destination, both on and off your mat.

This retreat is for all levels of students enthusiastic about the beauty, intricacy, and power of yoga and Ayurveda as gateways to stillness, expansiveness, and love.

Sarahjoy teaches at Breitenbush several times a year:
April  16 - 19, 2020: Awakening into the Sacred

Why Go On Retreat?
In our modern lives, what are the causes of our stress?  Is it the stress you feel because you’re running late and you can’t find a parking spot?  Is it the stress of the incessant dings from your phone, feeling constantly pulled in many directions?  Is it the flood of emails with request after request that keep you from making the real progress you want to make on your project?

In yoga, we speak of the Dharma.  The Dharma is the wisdom teachings.  It is the timeless and universal teachings for living a more auspicious life. These teachings are collective and shared across generations and cultures.

Our causes of suffering are not in fact parking and email. Especially in the modern world, our causes of suffering are forgetting our basic nature.  We feel separate from others and because of this separateness, we feel isolated. This isolation creates fear, craving and aversion.

The wisdom teachings of the ancient teachers are still relevant today.

In retreat, though, we are able to find strength and power in the collective.  The teachings of the dharma are more potent because there are more of us experiencing it together.  We are making the commitment to the dharma together. Together leaning towards a more auspicious, loving life.
