Trauma-Informed Brain-Sensitive Yoga

With so much increasing need for safe, informed, attuned, sensitive, adaptive, inclusive, and culturally competent care, yoga is being considered a vital resource in settings where such care is needed. We provide yoga programs in prisons, hospitals, schools, and rehab centers. We also have requests to provide yoga in mental health triage centers, immigration centers, and domestic violence shelters.

While yoga provides a body-centered, brain-nurturing, stress-reducing experience, and develops the life skills tool kit our community members need to move from struggling with surviving to learning about thriving, HOW yoga is provided has a significant impact on its efficacy.

Developmental Journey of the Chakras: Root to Solar Plexus

Incorporating the developmental journey of the chakras into your yoga practice bridges your practice from the physical body to the subtle body, opens these energetic centers as gateways for healing, vitality, and integration, and prepares you for the deeper practices of pranayama and chanting to be truly accessible and transformational.

With 7 chakras and a lifetime to dedicate to practice, this workshop will focus on the developmental imperatives of the first 3 chakras including the life purposes, the emotional potentials and challenges, and the community responsibilities for each chakra.

We will incorporate asana, pranayama, chanting, and meditation.

Yoga Therapy for Upper Back, Chest and Heart

Considering the lens of Yoga as a whole science and a mystical path, yoga therapy works with the lenses of the subtle body as well as the physical body.

The koshas, the vayus, and the doshas all inform us about the ongoing interplay of the mind-body-wisdom-psyche-ecology, the medicinal applications of yoga, and our responsibilities of inquiry into how our lifestyle is influencing our whole health, our life conditions, our relationships, and the ecology.

This session will cover yoga therapy for the upper back, chest, and heart. Conditions addressed may include thoracic immobility or pain, shoulder injuries, heart congestion, asthma, blood pressure, and depression.
