200-Hr Amrita Yoga Teacher Training

Hybrid Model

Our 200hr yoga teacher training programs will continue to be online AND we are adding a person-to-person component that will also be shared online with each student in their “satellite” location (such as their home).
August 2021 Announcement
Follow up questions from August 2021 announcement.
Please see the updated outline below for the Satellite Hybrid Model.
With the pandemic and the regulations in Oregon, we won't be at a local studio. We will all be in the Satellite Hybrid model outlined in these videos and at home.  In our Fall 2021 cohort, we were able to organize, together with everyone's consent and careful planning, to have our 4th YTT Module in person at Yoga on Yamhill. As a yoga school, we are always ready and willing to improvise and update our training models in alignment with the changing times of the pandemic requirements.
The power of online synchronous yoga teacher training:
  • You can do the training from anywhere.
  • We’re in real time together, learning, growing, practicing.
  • All aspects of the training are recorded for your continued review and practice.
  • Our schedule provides breaks for you to be with your family, go outdoors, to tend to your garden, or to nourish yourself with food and rest.

The drawbacks for online yoga teacher trainings (even when  they’re synchronous):
  • It’s challenging to get your camera set properly so the teacher can see your practice.
  • The teacher can’t adequately provide verbal feedback to all of the students expediently.
  • No hands on recommendations can be provided.
  • The teacher can’t see you teaching to a group of students in one room (while they can see you practice teaching within your breakout room, it’s not a thorough substitute for seeing you interact with your students in real time).
  • Learning visual observation with verbal feedback for your students is limited to the tiny squares of a zoom room. You can’t walk around the classroom for different views. And it depends on where your students’ cameras are.
  • You can’t recommend a prop that your students don’t have at home.

Satellite Hybrid Format for Spring 2022
  • Sarahjoy and her assistants will staff the online zoom room to support the students' visual and physical learning about yoga asana and body mechanics.
  • For each student it will be recommended/required (to the best of your ability!) to have a couple of guest students join them for these portions of the training.
    • Each student chooses their own guest students, such as a friend, a neighbor, a spouse, who is willing to act as a yoga student for your learning.
    • These portions of the training ask for about an hour of committed time from your guest student.
  • We will practice observation skills, verbal and physical support skills, use of yoga props, and adapting practices to people’s various physical needs.
  • Our training school assistants will be chaperoning the zoom breakout rooms online to give guidance for training students individually.
