Yoga Curriculum:
300hr Advanced Teacher Training Level

This training builds upon your 200hr level training. We go deeper into the neurology and physiology of the body to give you an understanding the powerful influence that yoga can have with your students' health and well-being. In PHASE ONE, we focus on the physical medicine components of yoga: asana, pranayama, chanting, meditation, as well as myofacial release, strength conditioning, and restorative practices. While a 200hr level teacher may lead group classes, we want to prepare you as a 300hr level teacher to be able to offer targeted workshops, specialized yoga series, and individual yoga session tailored to meet the needs of yoga students. As such, this training includes a focus on medically-sensitive yoga and adaptive yoga practices to prepare you to teach in a full range of settings with a diversity of students' needs.

The Necessary Skills for Teaching Yoga:
300hr Advanced Teacher Training Level

When you lead a group yoga class, you are relying on your foundational level skill set. While it will prepare you for leading targeted workshops, specialized series and individual yoga lessons, those foundational skills need to be built upon.

We will be training you in deeper observation skills, sensitivity to the neurological, physiological, and psychological uniqueness of your students, and facilitation skills that empower your students; elevate your listening, presence, compassion and intuition skills; and give you the confidence in YOGA to be the healing transmission that it is (so as to prevent you from burning out).

 Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology:
300hr Advanced Teacher Training Level

Trauma-Informed yoga has become an essential aspect of teaching yoga.  Not only is trauma-awareness on the rise, but social, ecological, and global traumas continue to happen. More people are turning to yoga - or being referred to yoga classes - for its ability to help with resilience, recovery, healing, and transformation, of all kinds.

Yoga Psychology with a trauma-informed lens is a profoundly helpful way to support your students' healing while also giving them the tools, knowledge and guidance to reach their potential.

Training Format:
300hr Advanced Teacher Training Level

Yoga is traditionally taught from one teacher to one student. In person. Our contemporary lives include much more technology which brings both freedom and the need for discernment. Learning yoga primarily from videos is not recommended. Learning to teach yoga primarily from videos is also not recommended.

We prioritize synchronous learning with additional training from asynchronous content.

Yoga is an interpersonal experience between the teacher and the student; between individuals and the community in which they are practicing.  Learning to teach yoga needs to include these interpersonal experiences and nuances so that teachers can develop the skills they will need to be in relationship with their students, in real time. As a student's journey unfolds they will need different levels of direction, inspiration, and support from their teacher. If teachers have not received this support themselves, they will be unprepared to provide it to their students.

Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity Statement + Scholarships

We are dedicated to celebrating diversity across cultures, race, ethnicities, belief systems, sexual orientations, ages, abilities, and body types.  There has been a lack of diverse representation in yoga in the West due to commercialism, colonialism, and appropriation. We are committed to doing our part. In addition to teaching yoga in prisons and other settings for people marginalized by the inequities in our society, we also provide scholarships for our training programs. We have been dedicated to extending the healing potential of yoga in communities of need and throughout marginalized populations since 1998. As a training institution, the best way we can commit to increasing diversity in yoga is to grow a community of students and teachers that is represented by people of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities.

In support of diversifying yoga leadership, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color registering for our trainings are invited to apply for scholarships with our school.

We don’t assume that all who identify as BIPOC require or want financial support to access yoga. For those who do, we see this as step we can take towards offering reparations within a healthcare system that has predominantly failed communities of color.
