This course offers a comprehensive exploration of Manas Roga, which encompasses the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders according to Ayurvedic principles. Rooted in ancient wisdom and modern research, the course delves into the intricate connection between the mind, body, and spirit, as perceived through the lens of Ayurveda.
Key Topics Covered:
  1. Understanding the Mind: Explore the Ayurvedic perspective on the mind, including its constitution (Prakriti), functions (Manasika Vikara), and its role in overall well-being.
  2. Psychology in Ayurveda: Investigate the psychological principles outlined in Ayurvedic texts, such as the Tridoshatheory, Gunas (attributes), and Sattva-Rajas-Tamas (modes of existence).
  3. Disorders (Manas Roga): Identify and analyze various mental health disorders recognized in Ayurveda, including anxiety (Chittodvega), depression (Vishada), psychosis (Unmada), and cognitive impairments (Buddhi Dosha).
  4. Diagnosis and Assessment: Learn traditional Ayurvedic methods of diagnosing mental health disorders, Darshana (observation), and Prashna (questioning).
  5. Treatment Modalities:
        A. Panchakarma Therapy: Understand the role of detoxification therapies, such as Vamana (therapeuticemesis),
Virechana (purgation), and Basti (medicated enema), in restoring mental equilibrium.

        B. Herbal Medicines: Explore the use of Ayurvedic herbs and formulations in treating specific mental health
            conditions.
        C. Lifestyle Modifications: Discuss lifestyle factors, including diet, exercise, and daily routines, that contribute to
mental health and well-being according to Ayurvedic principles.
        D. Yoga and Meditation: Integrate yogic practices and meditation techniques as adjunct therapies to promote mental
clarity, emotional balance, and spiritual growth.
    6. Therapeutic Approaches: Examine holistic approaches to mental health treatment in Ayurveda, including Sadvritta              (code of conduct), Sattvavajaya Chikitsa (psychotherapy), and Swasthavritta (preventive medicine).
By the end of the course, students will gain a deep understanding of Manas Roga through the Ayurvedic perspective, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to address mental health challenges holistically and promote mental wellness through natural, sustainable means.
